Week of Prayer | Day 7

(Today’s Prayer Guide Author: Chad McKinley, Elder)

11 And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, 12 to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, 13 until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, 14 so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. 15 Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, 16 from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love. (Ephesians 4:11-16)

PRAY FOR LEADERS OF OUR CHURCH- Many people lead in many ways throughout the ministries in our church.  Pray for Pastor Jeff to be strengthened as he focuses on preaching and leading our church.  Pray for the elders to have wisdom as to the direction of our body.  Pray for the deacons, ministry leaders, small group leaders, and staff to continue to serve in a wise, loving, and humble manner.

PRAY FOR HEARTS TO BE CHANGED – Harvest Bible Chapel KC is about people’s lives being changed by Christ.  Pray for people to be impacted and change through our church.  Pray for the truth to be spoken in love in every one of our ministries.  Pray that each member will use their God-given spiritual gifts to serve within our body.  Pray that broken and hopeless lives will find Christ.  Pray that our body will continue to see lost people saved, saved people matured, and mature people multiplied…all to the glory of God.  Pray that God will strengthen and bolster our ministry impact through our transition.

PRAY FOR YOUR PERSONAL ROLE – Paul is not teaching here that the pastor is to do all the teaching and all the serving.  Each one of us has been given a role to serve.  First, each one of us is called to speak truth in love to each other.  Pray for the Holy Spirit to help you grow in the knowledge and application of the truth.  Pray that you will be able to speak life changing truth into someone’s life with Christ-like love.  Second, each one of us has unique giftedness intended by God to be used by serving in the local church.  If you are not serving, pray the Lord will give you wisdom and discernment in how to serve.  If you already are, pray that the Lord would strengthen and grow you so that you can continue to minister.  Pray for your personal growth so you can better serve within our body and outside of our body.

PRAISE GOD – Praise God for the amazing work He has already accomplished! Praise God for the sacrifice and resurrection of Jesus Christ that fuels our life and ministry!  Praise God for His work of transforming our lives from destitute sinners to hope-filled followers!  Praise to Him for His faithfulness to continue to strengthen the impact of our church, the churches in our community, the churches in our nation, and the churches around the world! PRAISE HONOR AND GLORY TO HIM!!!!!
