Week of Prayer | Day 2

week_of_prayer_2016_h2 DAY 2 – OTHERS FOCUS

26 Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. (Genesis 1:26-27)

Pray For Someone You Don’t Naturally Enjoy Being Around  – whether they have wronged you, have a personality you can’t stand, or whatever the reason, first take time to remember they are “image bearers” of the Creator of the Universe.  Pray that God will give you eyes to see them as He sees them.  And then pray something intentional that will bless them and bring glory to God!

Pray For Those With Worldviews Very Different From Yours  – today there will be many casting ballots who have worldviews that are different than yours…and some who are ardently opposed to a worldview that honors Christ.  And, yet, they are image bearers!  God has place eternity in their hearts – a thirst that can only be quenched through a relationship with their God through Christ (Ecclesiastes 3:11).  Pray that they will recognize their thirst and find the Living Water (John 4:10) and that He will use you to point them to Him!

Pray For Opportunities – we are heading into a time of the year when we typically have more opportunities to connect with families, friends, and co-workers.  Pray for “red apple” opportunities and for boldness to share the good news of the Gospel with grace and truth.

Praise For – Think of one person from your childhood, from your transition years, your grown up years, and even now – who have impacted you in a positive way for Christ.  Thank the Lord for each of them and pray for them.

Bonus – always remember the important aspect of the “so that” of our praying.  When you pray for someone: Why are you praying for them?  What are you praying for? What is the ultimate purpose of your prayers for these people?  Often God’s greatest answer is not a “no”, “yes”, or “wait.”  Often, His greatest answer is to mold and shape you to be prepared for the next step in your life!
